Information sessions
Information sessions for intending Human Services and Social Work students are held in the second semester of each year for enrolment in the following year’s programmes. Please see the Department’s home page for the date of these sessions.

Pathways to Professional Social Work Qualifications
The Professional Social Work Qualification Pathways (PDF 28KB) provides a useful overview of undergraduate and postgraduate studies, eligibility criteria, application and assessment processes, and outcomes.
Admission to Social Work Courses
Students enrolling in 100-level and 200-level Bachelor of Social Work courses are NOT required to apply for limited entry. Intending students wishing to enrol in these courses should follow the standard University enrolment procedures for new or advancing students.
Limited Entry Courses
Limited entry criteria apply to students enrolling in:
- 300-level & 400-level Bachelor of Social Work
- Master of Social Work (Applied)
The limited entry process also ensures the Department and its graduates comply with the New Zealand Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB web site) suitability requirements and the Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers (ANZASW) Code of Ethics and Bicultural Code of Practice (Aotearoa NZ Association of Social Workers web site).
The closing date for Limited Entry applications is 16 September.

Interviews take place in November.
Late applications may be considered in exceptional circumstances. Students with enquiries of this nature should contact the Co-ordinator of the relevant programme.
